Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 August 2026.

Plato Intelligence is a static website publishing essays about Plato. This policy sets out what data is collected when you visit, who collects it, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

Plato Intelligence publishes at platointelligence.com. You can reach us at info@platointelligence.com.

What we do not collect

This is worth stating plainly, because it rules out most of what privacy policies usually cover. This site:

  • has no comment system, so no names, email addresses or IP addresses are collected through comments
  • has no user accounts, logins or registration
  • has no contact form — the only way to reach us is by email, which you choose to send
  • accepts no file or image uploads from visitors
  • has no newsletter or mailing list

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which essays people read and how they found them. It records information such as the pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, your device and browser, and whether you arrived from a search engine or another site. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before the data reaches our reports.

We use this only in aggregate, to decide what to write and what to fix. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

Google’s handling of this data is covered by Google’s privacy policy. You can prevent Google Analytics entirely with the opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

The site is monetised through advertising delivered by Mediavine (operating as JourneyMV). This is the main way data about your visit is collected.

Mediavine and its advertising partners use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Depending on your location and your consent choices, this can include:

  • your IP address and approximate location
  • your browser, device type and operating system
  • which pages you view here and how long you spend on them
  • identifiers used to cap how often you see the same advert and to measure whether ads worked
  • data used to select ads that may be more relevant to you

The advertising partners who may receive this data are listed publicly in our ads.txt file. Mediavine’s own privacy policy, which governs how they handle this data, is at mediavine.com/privacy-policy.

We do not ourselves sell your personal information. Some advertising activity may nonetheless count as a “sale” or “sharing” under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, which is why the opt-outs below exist.

Cookies

Cookies on this site are set by Google Analytics and by our advertising partners. We set no cookies of our own beyond those, and the site does not need cookies to work — every essay is readable with cookies disabled.

If you are in a region covered by GDPR or similar law, you should see a consent notice before non-essential cookies are set, and you can change that choice at any time through the same notice.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes requests and keeps limited technical logs — including IP addresses — for security, abuse prevention and reliable delivery. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Essays link out to sources such as the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Wikipedia and Britannica. Following those links takes you to sites we do not control, each with its own privacy practices. We embed no third-party video, social widgets or tracking pixels.

Your rights and choices

Opting out of personalised advertising. You can opt out of interest-based advertising through the industry tools at:

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most mobile operating systems offer a “limit ad tracking” option.

If you are in the EU or UK, GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority.

If you are in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its sale or sharing.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@platointelligence.com. Because we hold almost no data ourselves, requests about advertising data are usually best directed to Mediavine using the contact details in their privacy policy.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will act on it.

Data retention

We keep no visitor database of our own. Analytics data is retained by Google under the retention period set on our property, and server logs and advertising data are retained by Cloudflare and Mediavine under their own policies.

Changes to this policy

If our data practices change — for example if a contact form or newsletter is added — this page will be updated and the date at the top revised.
